Prayer vigil held for Deputy Garry Chambliss

Family, friends and coworkers gathered for a vigil Thursday evening to remember an off-deputy Indian River County deputy who was fatally shot Feb. 17.

A public viewing will be held Friday at Wabaso Church of God from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for Deputy Garry Chambliss.

Funeral service is set for Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Central Assembly of God in Vero Beach. 

Chambliss, a 27-year law enforcement veteran  was shot and killed in the town of Gifford in the 4400 block of 28th Ave.

One person was arrested in the case, but law enforcement are still seeking the gunman.
