A registered sex offender faces another sex-related charge, according to the Indian River County Sheriff's Office.
37-year-old Leonard Scott is accused of molesting a 7-year-old at his home in Gifford, the sheriff's office said.
The child was visiting a friend who lives with Scott, according to investigators.
Scott is accused of capital sexual battery on a minor.
"Tragically, Leonard Scott committed another act of sexual abuse last night. Our investigators keep a close eye on the registered sexual offenders in Indian River County. We will not tolerate this type of activity and we will be sure that justice is served for this helpless child victim," Indian River County Sheriff Deryl Loar said in a statement.
Scott was convicted of lewd or lascivious acts on a minor in 1997, according to the sheriff's office.
He's being held without bond at the Indian River County Jail.
