FELLSMERE, Fla. — Crews battled a brush fire in Fellsmere Thursday evening, according to the Fellsmere Police Department.
Fellsmere police said lightning likely sparked the 11-acre brush fire, shutting down CR-512, west of Interstate 95. Winds pushed the fire into a section of Buffer preserve.
The roadway reopened several hours later.
Indian River County firefighters are expected to watch for hot spots throughout the evening.
