SEBASTIAN, Fla. — Police in Sebastian have arrested three people they say were involved in a theft ring.

Police received a report of shoplifting at a Walgreens store at 9595 US 1 in Sebastian on Tuesday, June 25, 2019.

Once at the store, officers determined that three suspects, later identified as Jonny L. Sanders (59), Johneisha L. Jackson (35) and Toccara M. Huff (37), all from Tampa, stole approximately $475 worth of merchandise from the store.

The manager observed the suspects walk toward a nearby Publix parking lot and updated officers.

Police say one of the suspects entered a restaurant in the shopping plaza, at which time Jackson and Huff were taken into custody.

A short time later, a Sebastian K9 officer and his K9 partner located Sanders hiding in a tree 150 yards into the woods just north of the shopping plaza, where he was taken into custody.

Sanders had an active warrant out of Chesterfield, Virginia for violating probation on two counts of attempted capital murder, eluding police, hit and run and forging public records and an active warrant out of Hillsborough County, Florida for fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer.

Huff also had an active warrant out of Hillsborough County for Felony Battery.

Officers located 230 items valued at over $2,000 inside the vehicle used by the suspects.

The items contained products like over-the-counter medication, children's medication, bug spray and energy drinks. The items are believed to have been stolen from various stores throughout the state.

The suspects were booked into the Indian River County Jail.
