VERO BEACH, Fla. — The search continues for two boaters who were due to arrive in Vero Beach Tuesday.

Overdue are Gerald Cook, 81, and Peter Cook, 55, and four of their dogs aboard a 52-foot yellow steel vessel.

The Coast Guard said they received the initial call from family stating a father and son were traveling from Panama City to Vero Beach by the Okeechobee Waterway and were scheduled to arrive Tuesday.

The Coast Guard said their search has covered 31,499 square miles in the Gulf of Mexico since Wednesday.

During the search, the Coast Guard located two boaters in distress, but they weren't Peter and Gerald. Those boaters were rescued with the help of a good Samaritan.

Crews continued their search on Saturday.
