Dead fish wash ashore in Vero Beach

Dead fish have washed ashore on city beaches in Vero Beach. As a result, the city is recommending bathers to stay out of the water.

There are also reports of an unknown odor. The city said if it causes any sort of irritation to go indoors.

One person posted on the WPTV Facebook page that wind off the ocean made her and her husband cough uncontrollably and their throat and noses burn.

Another person noticed dead fish at Jaycee Park.

The Indian River County Emergency Services Department said no Indian River County beaches were closed as of 4 p.m. Monday afternoon. 

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said it is working to get water samples. So is the Florida Health Department.
