A Gifford Middle School student is among the top ten finalists for the title of "America's Top Young Scientist."
Zachary Hessler is taking part in the Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge.
Zachary, along with hundreds of other students, was asked to to submit a video explaining their idea that would solve an everyday problem.
He developed a method to use light technology to reduce noise pollution.
The student who wins the challenge will spend the summer with scientists to turn their idea into reality.
The winner will also receive $25,000.
