A man died from an apparent drowning in Vero Beach Monday, according to police.
They say officers were sent to the area of South Beach Park on Ocean Drive around 6:42 p.m. after a caller to 911 reported a swimmer in distress.
Officers discovered bystanders giving a man CPR and they assisted until EMS arrived, police said.
Police identified the swimmer as 25-year-old Bogyu Choe of South Korea, who was living in Vero Beach.
He was taken to Cleveland Clinic at Indian River Hospital where he later died, police said.
His death is being investigated as a drowning, officials said. An autopsy was performed but the results have not yet been released.
