Parents of students at Gifford Middle School are being advised to keep sick children at home due to an outbreak of a highly contagious intestinal Norovirus.
Health officials say there has been an increase in illness characterized by vomiting and diarrhea in Indian River County, including childcare facilities and schools.
Tiffany Justice with the School District of Indian River County says the district is "taking the situation very seriously."
She said in a Facebook post on Sunday, that Gifford Middle School will be given a deep cleaning and sanitization.
