Elderly man punched while defending woman

Posted

An elderly Hobe Sound man says he was punched by a man because he helped defend a woman in a McDonald's parking lot.

Angelo Pascarella was waiting outside the McDonald's on Federal Highway Friday morning while his wife Elizabeth went inside to get him coffee.

"When I came out, people were screaming and yelling 'Call 911!'"

Elizabeth said she saw her husband on the ground, right after she said he was punched by an unknown man.

"They said some man had punched another man in the parking lot," she said.

Elizabeth said her husband was trying to defend a woman in the parking lot right before he was punched. The incident happened just weeks after Angelo suffered a heart attack and had surgery.

She said the man who punched him was getting aggressive with a woman because he was trying to take her parking spot.

"He's screaming, yelling, ranting, raving, cussing, beating on her window, yanking on her door handle and telling her 'Back up, back up!' She said 'I can't, there's a car behind me," Elizabeth said.

That's when Angelo said something to the man.

Elizabeth said her husband told the man, "'You shouldn't yell at her like that, she didn't do anything wrong."

Elizabeth said the man who punched her husband was about 5'7", had grey hair, was between the ages of 50-65 years old and drove a white Honda Odyssey.

If you know anything about the crime, you're asked to contact the Martin County Sheriff's Office.
