His songs have touched countless lives, and have stood the test of time.

'Hotel California', 'Desperado' and 'One of These Nights' are only a few of the songs written by Glenn Frey, founding member of the Eagles.

Frey's death was announced Monday. He was 67-years-old, and had been battling several medical conditions.

"They were just very true songs, they touched everybody no matter what your walk of life was," said local musician, David Goodman.

Goodman describes Frey's musical career as inspirational. His catchy melodies and powerful lyrics helped the Eagles become a Rock and Roll Phenomenon in the 1970s.

"I would say "Hotel California" is the most requested song over the last 30 years," said Goodman.

Goodman performed some of Frey's songs at Twisted Tuna in Port Salerno Monday night. He played tribute to Frey after hearing he died.

"It puts a tear in my eye because he was a gifted musician, a sweet person and a very kind soul," Goodman said.

Goodman's path passed with Frey in the 1980s.

"I had a few drinks with him in Nashville at the Bluebird Cafe... He was just so inspired. He had a fire about him, he had a fire, you know? It was just inspiring to sit with him,"

Frey's family issued a statement thanking the people who prayed for Frey. A statement continued, "Words can neither describe our sorrow, nor our love and respect for all that he has given to us, his family, the music community & millions of fans worldwide."
