A Martin County man is in federal custody after two area banks were robbed in the last week, according to a written statement Wednesday by the FBI.
The suspect, Biagio Mento, faces federal bank robbery charges after banks were robbed in Fort Pierce and Boynton Beach in less than a week.
The Seacoast Bank, located at 1901 S. US Highway 1 in Fort Pierce was robbed on June 15 and a SunTrust Bank, located at 2050 West Woolbright Rd. in Boynton Beach, was robbed on June 18.
The FBI said Mento was arrested without incident Tuesday morning in Martin County by the sheriff’s office and the FBI.
The FBI said his initial court appearance will be in federal court in West Palm Beach.
