MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. -- The Martin County Sheriff's Office has launched a new app for parents, teachers, and students to report tips and receive alerts.
The "See Something Send Something" mobile app aims to add another layer of safety and crime prevention within the county's school system.
It allows students or any member of the community to submit a tip regarding suspicious activity anonymously, or self-identified from their smart phones.
Tips go directly to law enforcement officers in real time, 24-hours a day.
The app has real time chat ability and includes the ability to send videos and/or photos.
The Sheriff's Office can send out pulse alerts through the app using geo-fencing notifications, where deputies can notify people in a specific area about an incident.
The free app is available on the Apple App store for iPhones and the Google Play store for Android devices.
