STUART, Fla. — The city of Stuart could soon take control of some key property that would make way for possible condos.
The city would need to annex the 15-acre property.
Monday was the first of two votes for annexation of land located near Kanner and Martin highways.
A developer potentially wants to build more than 100 upscale rental units.
One neighbor says the area is already busy.
“They just added two lanes to Kanner Highway, and it’s busy. They put the hospital across the street. There’s going to be an elderly home building directly across from us. The traffic there is just getting really out of hand compared to when I first moved there,” said Riverland resident Brian Kershner.
There are also concerns about wetlands in the area.
The developer said they would create a 50-foot buffer between the condos and the wetlands.
