Martin County commissioners deciding to continue their legal battle against All Aboard Florida.
Today commissioners approved spending another $850,000 to fight the new high speed rail line scheduled to come through late 2017.
A representative from All Aboard Florida gave an update Tuesday saying that the possibility of a stop on the Treasure Coast is still there.
“All Aboard Florida would be thrilled to eventually have a stop on the Treasure Coast,” said Rusty Roberts, with All Aboard Florida. “To achieve this we suggest development of a three county working group consisting of staff from the MPO and including citizen participation.”
People attending the meeting spoke out against the train. They’re concerned about loss of property values, noise and safety.
A year ago, Martin County agreed to spend $1.4 million to battle the rail project.
