A teenage was arrested Wednesday in connection with a school threat at Hidden Oaks Middle School in Palm City.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office says a 13-year-old was taken into custody.

Martin County deputies said the 7th grader wrote the threats on his desk and school work. He's now being held at the St. Lucie Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Fort Pierce.

A robo-call was made to parents to make them aware of the arrest.

The school district released the following statement Wednesday:

Message to HOMS parents and students:

School officials worked in partnership with the Martin County Sheriff's Office as we became aware of a non-credible threat to our school campus.

The student has been identified and necessary action has been taken by the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.

All of our schools are committed to the safety and education of our students. We thank the school staff and MCSO for their diligent work.
