A standup paddleboarder in Jupiter had an awesome close encounter Thursday with a shark!
The video was recorded by Maximo Trinidad near Corners Beach off Carlin Park.
He was enjoying some fun in the sun during his lunch break when the shark suddenly shoots out of the water and skips off his board!
"As soon as I saw that big beautiful animal jumping next to me, everything went into slow motion. I didn't want to be on top of it and think I was a fish. Everything was so surreal. It was so cool," said Trinidad.
He said during an interview Friday morning with WPTV that he's had a similar experience with a shark while on the water.
"On one occasion, (a shark) jumped on my left side again, 2 feet next to me, almost at eye level, and that was impressive. There was a group of surfers next to me looking at it with big eyes," said Trinidad.
After his lunch break, he said he quickly rushed back to work to look at the video.
"I had to show it to my co-workers. I knew I had a great shot," said Trinidad.
