Investigators, loved ones push for tips in 27-year-old cold case

Posted

It's now been 27 years and there are still no more answers in the murder of a Jupiter teenager. However, that did not stop family and friends of Rachel Hurley from appealing for help on the anniversary of her death.

They hope anyone with even a sliver of information can revive the investigation.

Hurley was 14 when she was murdered. She was boating with friends near Dubois Park and was supposed to meet her mom at Carlin Park, but she never showed up.

Later that day, the teenager's body was found in the wooded area nearby.

Each year, her loved ones and investigators share her story, hoping it might jog someone's memory or encourage someone who knows something to come forward.

"It’s just a tragic tragic case where and you never know what Rachel could have turned out to be,” said Detive Springer with PBSO’s Cold Case Unite. “She could have been the person who cured cancer."

They say no tip is too small. There is also a Facebook page called “Justice for Rachel Hurley,” where you can message them with tips.
