JUPITER, Fla. — A 15-hour police standoff came to an end on Friday afternoon after authorities say a Jupiter man opened fire on officers and was eventually taken into custody.
The Jupiter Police Department said officers responded to a domestic violence call with shots fired in the 6100 block of Hollywood Street around 10:20 p.m. Thursday.
Officers located a female victim and her husband, identified as Donald Liberman, 62, at the home.
Liberman was armed with multiple weapons and threatened to harm his wife and officers on scene, according to police.
Officers safely removed Liberman's wife from the home, however Liberman refused to leave and barricaded himself inside the home with his weapons, police said.
Police said Liberman remained uncooperative for hours and threatened to shoot officers.
According to the police department, around 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Liberman started shooting at officers through his front door as SWAT members stormed into the home and took Liberman into custody.
No officers were hurt during the incident and Liberman suffered a minor injury, police said.
Liberman is under arrest for domestic aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest without violence, corruption by threat on a public official, and attempted homicide on a law enforcement officer.
