JUPITER, Fla. — A Jupiter man is accused of making written threats to kill former President Donald Trump, his vice presidential running mate Sen. J.D. Vance and their families, police said.

Jupiter police said the suspect, 68-year-old Michael M. Wiseman, made the threats on social media.

Officers were alerted to the threats through multiple online crime tips along with residents who expressed their concern.

After investigating the reports and the suspect's Facebook account, detectives found that Wiseman had made multiple threats against Trump and Vance.

The threats were also made concerning bodily harm to members of the Trump and Vance families.

Police said they coordinated the investigation with the U.S. Secret Service and the Palm Beach County State Attorney's Office.

Officers took Wiseman into custody without incident.

WPTV reporter Ethan Stein spoke with some of Wiseman's neighbors Friday, who described him as a quiet man. Stein also spoke with his wife, who said she's "embarrassed" and "mortified."

Wiseman praised the shooter in the posts. He also made antisemitic remarks. Police claimed they found no mental health or gun concerns.

During a press conference Friday evening, Deputy Chief Michael Barbera stressed that they are taking these kinds of posts more seriously in light of the attempted assassination.

"When you get on that keyboard and want to post to social media, really think about what you're saying or putting out there," he said.
