JUPITER, Fla. — Police are investigating a series of car burglaries near a Walmart in Jupiter on Friday.
Officers responded to the scene on Indiantown Road near Interstate 95 around 10 a.m.
Police said nine cars in and around the Walmart, located at 2144 W. Indiantown Rd, were broken into. Each vehicle had a window smashed and items inside stolen.
Victims say they had various items stolen, including backpacks and wallets, but they say police said the thieves might really be looking for weapons.
"They said typically these thieves come from down south and their main target is firearms,” says Felipe Ruiz, owner of one of the damaged pickup trucks.
Jupiter police say they have active investigation into the break-ins.
Police have not made any arrests, so if you know who did this, call the Jupiter Police Department at 561-746-6201.
