PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — More than 200 people from surrounding counties participated in a parents choice rally Saturday in Palm Beach Gardens.
The group was protesting over some South Florida school boards' decision to require students to wear masks in class, despite Gov. Ron DeSantis' executive order barring mask mandates.
School districts in Broward and Alachua counties have already been sent warning letters by the Florida Department of Education threatening to withhold the salaries of board members if they don't provide an option for parents who don't want their children to wear masks.
The School District of Palm Beach County announced last week that facial coverings will be required when children return to the classroom Monday.
