PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — A man was fatally shot outside the Winn-Dixie at the Gardens Park Plaza on Saturday afternoon.
Palm Beach Gardens police confirmed that shots were fired at the Gardens Park Plaza and there was one victim, identified as 31-year-old Jessie James Shannon of West Palm Beach.
There was a large police presence and two paramedic trucks were on the scene at 8924 N. Military Trail. The shooting was reported about 2:30 p.m.
"I’ve never seen any thing like this … not here not in this area," Cory Dunlap, a shopper, told WPTV.
Police say their preliminary investigation indicates the shooting was not a random act and they are investigating the shooting as a homicide.
Maj. Paul Rogers, a spokesman for the police department, said witnesses are asked to call 561-799-4445 with any information. No suspects have been named.
