PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.- Among the crowd at The Honda Classic at PGA National are volunteers who help the tournament run at steady pace. They hoist a scoreboard following their group along the 18 holes.
“It's just amazing, it’s the equivalent of sitting on the sidelines for the Super Bowl,” says Brent Cantville.
"I get to spend time with my dad,” says Olivia Cantville.
The father daughter team started three years ago. That bond has grown with each step. The duo covers 36 holes through two days of tournament play. Nothing beats the access to the best golfers in the world.
“It’s amazing, you’re part of the group. Vijay Singh is right in front of us, we’re inside the ropes,” says Brent Cantville.
Hundreds of standard-bearers comprise the volunteer corps. Like the players, they all have a tee time and a front-row seat to The Honda Classic. Best of all Brent is spending time next to his daughter. “It's a great way to spend a Friday afternoon in South Florida for sure.”
If you would like to be a standard-bearer for next year's tournament just register as a volunteerand request to become one.
