While many students are spending their summer vacation at the beach or at home in front of the TV, others are looking to give back to their community.

Students from Christ Fellowship are gearing up for their 8th annual Belle Glade mission trip.

The church says this will be their largest group ever heading out to the Glades, with 800 students getting involved in addition to adult volunteers.

They will be completing dozens of projects - including painting a city building in South Bay, and beautification projects at public schools in Pahokee and Belle Glade.

They’ll also lead sports camps and Bible studies.

The group will also host a community get together - which will be free for the children and adults from Belle Glade.

While they are there, the student volunteers will be giving up their phones, sleeping on air mattresses and losing the comforts of home.

There trips are split up into two sessions.

Middle school students will head out from June 11 until June 15.

Then high school students get their turn from June 15 to June 19.
