NORTH PALM BEACH, Fla. (WXYZ) — Some businesses are opening their doors and getting back to normal, already getting a rush of customers that were tired of being cooped up.
For Jewel Ahmed, it was a wild week. Competitors dropped like flies as they ran out of gas – buildings boarded up and they were the last ones open.
"Publix was closed, Walmart was closed," he said.
In North Palm Beach, Frigate's is back open.
Stu Kocha, the managing partner at Frigate's, said he's thankful North Palm Beach was spared from Hurricane Dorian.
"These things are serious," he said. "Mother Nature is ominous. You don't mess with her."
Terra Wierzba, a North Palm Beach resident, said she's happy to be out.
"Were looking for someplace open, we saw this," she said. "They were unsure, started with a small venue...within 20 minutes, they had a full menu."
Water over a few docks, but life is returning to normal — at least for now — in North Palm Beach. We even spotted some folks at @frigatesnpb. @WPTV pic.twitter.com/4ZAxRudooH
