2 die in deadly S.R. 70 crash in Okeechobee County

OKEECHOBEE COUNTY, Fla. — State Road 70 was shut down in both directions near the Okeechobee/Highlands County line because of a deadly crash Sunday night that killed two people, authorities say.

A head-on collision between a Land Rover and Hyundai SUV happened on SR 70W west of the city of Okeechobee, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Both drivers died at the scene, FHP said.

FHP identified the driver of the Land Rover as 26-year-old Ty Huff of Okeechobee. The driver of the Hyundai SUV was identified as 80-year-old Shelba Jean Robinson of Okeechobee.

The crash remains under investigation.
