The Okeechobee County School District pulled out all the stops this year to collect food for the Bill Brooks' Food for Families drive.
The district's eight schools collected 13,240 pounds of non-perishable food items this year, up from 8,122 pounds in 2018. That's an additional 5,118 pounds!
All food gathered in the county will remain in Okeechobee County and help hungry families in the community.
The breakdown of how much food each school collected:
Okeechobee Freshman Campus – 694 pounds
Okeechobee High School – 768 pounds
Osceola Middle School – 1,531 pounds
Central Elementary School – 2,324 pounds
Everglades Elementary School – 1,680 pounds
North Elementary School – 2,908 pounds
Seminole Elementary School – 1,853 pounds
South Elementary School – 1,482 pounds
