The Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office has announced the results of a recent crackdown on commercial vehicles over concerns they were putting drivers in danger.

The traffic enforcement effort, which also involved the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, Martin County Sheriff's Office and Florida Highway Patrol, took place on April 24.

It was called Operation Weight Watchers and law enforcement came in contact with 182 commercial motor vehicles as well as 43 other non-commercial motor vehicles, the Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office said.

Authorities pulled over 101 CMVs for speeding, 24 received a violation for being overweight, and two vehicles and three drivers were placed out of service, the sheriff's office said.

As to the non-commercial vehicles, there were 18 infractions and 9 criminal citations, according to the report.
