OKEECHOBEE, Fla. — A man has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a teenager in Okeechobee County.
Pardell Rembert, 28, of Okeechobee, faces a murder charge in the fatal shooting of the 16-year-old boy, Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Michelle Bell said Thursday.
The teen arrived at Raulerson Hospital shortly before 11:30 p.m. Monday suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transferred to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce, where he was pronounced dead.
"When working a murder case, our deputies and detectives have to document everything, nail down timelines, follow every lead and treat everything as evidence," Sheriff Noel E. Stephen said. "Deputies and detectives work around the clock to solve this kind of crime."
Stephen credited the community for sharing information that helped solve the crime.
