2 people arrested after man's body found in Okeechobee County street

OKEECHOBEE, Fla. — Two people face charges in Okeechobee County after a 24-year-old man’s body was found in the street early Sunday morning.

The sheriff’s office said deputies responded to the 200 block of NE 14 Ave. around 1:19 a.m. and found the body of Tohermain Rosier.

Officials said Okeechobee County Fire Rescue pronounced Rosier dead at the scene but did not offer a cause of death.

Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Michele Bell said Derrick Levi Clay, 31, and Cheyenne Mackenzie Smith, 25, have been arrested in the case.

Clay was charged with one count of murder. Smith was charged with one count of accessory after the fact.

On Monday, a memorial was set up along the road where Rosier's body was found.

The sheriff’s office did not offer a motive in the homicide.

Bell said this is an active investigation.
