Boca Raton police say they have arrested three people after reports of several car burglaries early Monday morning.

Officers set up a perimeter along NW 2nd Avenue near NW 67th Street at about 4 a.m.

They arrested one suspect on foot.

A few minutes later, police tried to stop a suspicious vehicle that kept driving past the scene. A police spokesperson said the driver of that car crashed. Two brothers ran away, but officers arrested them.

None of the three men arrested face burglary charges. Boca Raton police continue to investigate whether the three men worked together and whether they were involved in the burglaries.

Brothers Jerome Fields, 23, and Jermaine Fields, 20, face charges of loitering or prowling, fleeing and eluding and resisting arrest without violence.

The third arrestee, Abdul Fornah, is charged with loitering or prowling.

Mike Mallen said he stumbled upon a group of men with a flashlight in the parking lot of his Boca Teeca condo. The men were outside his friend's car early Monday.

“Her whole entire driver's window was right here in one piece,” Mallen said pointing to a parking spot.

He said the burglars only got paperwork from his friend’s car, but he’s frustrated that it will cost her time and money to fix the window.

“They were so fast,” Mallen described the suspected thieves. “If they would just put those skills to use and apply for a job, the sky is the limit.”

A Boca Raton police spokesperson said there are things you can do to lower the chances that crooks target your car.

“They're looking for opportunities. If they see something on the passenger seat, or in plain view, they could be targeting those items,” explained Officer Jessica Desir.

The department follows this motto: remove it, lock it, or lose it. Remove valuables from your car and lock your car. Or you risk losing your items to thieves.
