Boca Raton police and fire rescue officials responded to a shooting just before 5 p.m. Friday evening along the 300 block of North Ocean Boulevard north of Palmetto Park Road.

Boca Raton police confirmed one male and one female are dead. One male was taken to a local hospital.

The incident took place in the parking lot of 365 N. Ocean Blvd., an extended stay hotel.

Boca Raton police say there was a dispute in the parking lot and the suspect left the area in a vehicle. They are searching for the suspect and speaking with witnesses.

NE 6th St. to Palmetto Park Rd. reopened early Saturday morning.

WPTV's Cassandra Garcia spoke with residents who were surprised to see so much police activity outside their homes, as the area is relatively peaceful. They say most of the neighbors know each other.

"Lived here for 34 years. I’m very surprised that all this activity is going on and there’s been a shooting," said Rich Storfer.

"When I hear this my antennas go up. I’m like what’s going on? This never happens in my neighborhood. This is something that is very unusual for where we live," said Cecilia Quinn.
