BOCA RATON, Fla. — There's a new startup splashing into Palm Beach County.
Pool Today, a Boca Raton based company, connects local pool service professionals with homeowners.
Tyler Munnilal, a Palm Beach County firefighter, started cleaning pools right out of high school. He says it's a profession with high demand.
"I can’t tell you how many times people have said, hey, I know you were here Wednesday, but I’d like you to be here Friday, and logistically that can happen," said Munnilal.
That’s when he and his high school friend came up with the idea of creating an app that’s like Uber or Lyft, but for pool service.
"Consumers can either switch to us for a weekly service and get a curated pool pro, or they can use our service on demand if they have a holiday party coming up that can book it with two hours notice," said Santo Leo, co-founder and CEO of Pool Today.
Leo said they launched Pool Today just before Thanksgiving and are already operation in more than 100 cities around the country, including in Florida, Texas, Arizona, California, and Nevada.
Leo said Palm Beach County has the highest density of pools in Florida and already dozens of local customers are using the app.
"I’m gone a lot and my two little kids are here, so knowing when somebody is coming to the house in advance and knowing when it’s going to happen, being able to see it all on my phone and control it when they do or don’t come, that just makes my life a lot easier, my wife’s life a lot easier, and it’s safer. It’s easier," said customer Chris Dittami.
The company hand-picks pool professionals based on quality, and the price is a flat rate based on your zip code.
"My customers know who’s going in their yard, they’re accounted for, nothing gets missed, and I still get to be a working part of the fire service," said Munnilal.
Pool Today said the first service is on them. The app is free to download on Apple and Android devices.
