Residents in Boca Raton could start saving a little money on their homeowners insurance
The city's fire department announced today it received the highest rating possible from the Insurance Service Office.
Asst. Chief Michael LaSalle explains the score is based on how much firefighters train, how many fire hydrants the city maintains, and a long list of other factors.
He says the fire department now has a Class 1 rating, the highest possible. It was previously a Class 2, with Class 10 being the worst.
Some insurance providers offer discounted premiums based on your fire department's rating.
But the Wiglesworth-Rindom Insurance Agency in Delray Beach says policy holders in Boca Raton will probably see small savings because the city already had a high rating before getting this improved score.
LaSalle believes Boca Raton is the only fire department in Palm Beach County to have a Class 1 rating.
