BOCA RATON, Fla. — The pandemic did not stop one Boca Raton woman and her family from celebrating a big day.
Jean Cohen turned 100 years old Tuesday. Her family made the day special by visiting her porch-side at her assisted living facility.
Cohen's family sang to her through a screen, brought along a birthday cake and a handmade banner.
Cohen was born in Philadelphia where she worked as a fourth-grade teacher for 30 years. She has 2 children, 5 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

WPTV asked her what’s her secret to a long life.
“I think to have a positive attitude that’s the main thing. I try to look at the bright side of everything and I’m blessed to have such a wonderful group of people around me to be happy with,” she replied.
Additionally, she exercises daily and plays bridge.
Cohen says she’s never lived through a pandemic, but she grew up with stories of her father, a Navy WWI veteran, who lived through the Spanish Flu before she was born.
