A Costco in Boca Raton was evacuated Wednesday after an air conditioning began leaking Freon.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Capt. Albert Borroto said at 11:55 a.m. crews responded to reports of a haze at a Costco located on the 17000 block of Congress Ave.

The store was evacuated of workers and shoppers as firefighter hazardous materials teams entered to identify the source of the haze.

Crews identified the source as leaking refrigerant in the back of the store.

Borroto said leak has been stopped, the store has been ventilated with all atmospheric readings within acceptable safe levels.

Crews will be clearing the location soon.
