Water main breaks keep crews busy in Boca Raton

Posted

Crews in Boca Raton spent 14 hours repairing two water main breaks that happened on Sunday in Boca Raton.

One break happened on Northwest 7th St. around 4 p.m. There was also another break on 53rd Street, but crews were able to quickly repair that issue.

Utility crews worked overnight to fix the break in Northwest 7th Street. The city of Boca Raton says old infrastructure is to blame.

Eleven homes were without water during the water main break on Northwest 7th Street. All water was restored once it was fixed Monday morning.

Those homes that lost water are under a precautionary boil water notice for 48 hours.

A city spokeswoman says crews are testing the water and will place fliers on those homes' doors once the water is confirmed as safe to drink.

No homes were damaged.

Parts of Northwest 7th and other surrounding streets are still flooded. The city spokeswoman says the water should go down quickly, however.

No roads are blocked, but drivers should be aware of high water warning signs in the area.
