Boca Raton Airport will soon make life easier for some pilots and passengers.
Airport leaders broke ground on a new Customs and Border Protection facility Wednesday.
When completed, it will allow pilots to land in Boca Raton directly after an international flight.
“The facility will mean they can come directly home. It's safer, faster and more convenient for them,” said Clara Bennett with the Boca Raton Airport Authority.
"We've been looking forward to this for years. To become an international city, to attract business from South America, the Bahamas, all over the world," said Boca Raton City Council member Robert Weinroth.
The facility is expected to open next summer and service about 700 international flights per year.
