BOCA RATON, Fla. -- A Boca Raton woman is being recognized by L'Oréal Paris for a group she created that focuses on kindness.
Laura Reiss created Kindness Matters 365 in 2008 when her daughter was at Sunrise Park Elementary School. The after-school program focuses on educating children about the importance of being kind. The group talks about being kind to themselves, being kind to others and looks at ways to have a positive impact in their communities.
Since the not-for-profit organization was founded, the group has grown to 90 chapters in nine different states.
L'Oréal Paris honored Reiss as a Woman of Worth, one of 10 women in the United States to receive the honor. Reiss got $10,000 to help forward the Kindness Matters mission.
One of the 10 women will receive the top National Honoree and receive an additional $25,000. Votes can be cast until November 30th.
