Early voting continues at a “heavy and steady” pace according to Palm Beach County election officials, but it is slow in one place.
In the first three days of early voting, fewer than 500 votes have been cast at the polling place on the FAU campus.
“I looked at the numbers for FAU, and looked at the early voting numbers and they’re very, very low,” Palm Beach County Commissioner Mack Bernard told the audience at an on-campus rally for Andrew Gillum.
“A lot of young people don’t see they have a voice and want to come out and vote, they leave it up to the older people,” says FAU student Malik Berry who did vote on campus.
Elsewhere in Palm Beach County, half of the 14 polling places for early voting are averaging 1,000 votes a day, and the county is setting a record for mail-in ballots.
