BOCA RATON, Fla. — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis says state and federal health officials are keeping a close watch on visitors traveling to South Florida for the Super Bowl.

“When you have an event of that magnitude there’s a whole host of things in terms of security that are significant, but this is certainly one of them,” DeSantis said during a visit to Omni Middle School in Boca Raton.

Thousands of visitors are expected to arrive this week for Sunday’s game in Miami Gardens.

“We don’t have any positive tests yet but obviously more people coming from different areas I don’t know where all the super bowl people are coming, but that’s something we want to look out for,” DeSantis said.

The governor says since last week state health officials are working closely with federal health officials.

“We’ve had a number of people who had been in that area of china and had some concerns about whether they had contracted the coronavirus, everybody to this date who has been tested has come back negative,” the governor said.
