A lockdown has been lifted at Whispering Pines Elementary School in West Boca Raton. It was originally put in place due to police activity in the area.
A Palm Beach County sheriff's deputy spotted a suspicious person who appeared to be breaking into a vehicle near the school but not on school property.
In the process of meeting with the person, there was some type of altercation with the deputy, who sustained minor injuries.
The person, who PBSO described as a habitual juvenile runaway, then fled the scene.
Officials later found her and took her into custody.
Classes at the school are operating as normal.
