BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. — Troy is a student at Citrus Cove Elementary School in Boynton Beach. With classes starting back up and his birthday just around the corner, he'd be forgiven for thinking about seeing his friends again or the presents he might receive. Instead, his thoughts turned to others.

For his birthday, in lieu of gifts, Troy asked for school supplies to be donated to the Education Foundation of Palm Beach County's Backpack and Supply Drive.

Education Foundation of Palm Beach County works to provide students the necessary school supplies for the new year. The drive, held annually every summer, has become especially urgent this year as COVID-19 has hurt so many families financially.

This year's drive ends this Saturday. If you're interested in donating, you can text PBCBACKPACK to 41444 or visit the foundation's site here to learn how you can help make Troy's birthday wish come true.
