Officers said the suspect, Austin Puppo, told the teller he had a bomb in his backpack, then fled with an unknown amount of cash.
Puppo was booked Sunday night into the Palm Beach County Jail. He faces armed robbery charges and making a false bomb threat.
At a court appearance Monday morning, a judge set bail at $40,000 and said he can return to school if he meets certain conditions.
