A toddler's father was arrested Tuesday after his son was found walking alone in the middle of a street in Boynton Beach.
Police said the child, who was only wearing a diaper with bare feet on very hot pavement, was nearly two blocks from his home when he was found.
Police later posted a photo of the boy playing with toys at police headquarters.
Officers were later able to locate the boy's father, 27-year-old Peter Joubert, who said he was unaware his son was missing from his house.
According to an affidavit, Joubert told police he was home watching his son and fell asleep in bed with the child. He said he had no other explanation other than he made a mistake and admitted it was his responsibility to watch the child.
Joubert was charged with felony child neglect by Boynton Beach Police and transported to the Palm Beach County Jail.
