Two men were arrested following an armed robbery at a Boynton Beach 7-Eleven early Saturday morning.

The incident happened at approximately 3:49 a.m. at the store located at 7044 Lawrence Road.

According to the victim, 50-year-old Mohammed Chotton, the suspect, later identified as 21-year-old Casey Ruiz, entered the store carrying a 'large firearm,' pointed the weapon at him and demanded cash from the register.

Chotton said he handed Ruiz the cash. He identified the suspect as a "Hispanic man wearing a light-green coat."

The information was relayed to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office. Deputy S. Thomas noticed a black 2015 Nissan Sentra at a Dunkin Donuts parking lot of 4430 Hypoluxo Rd. a short time after the robbery.

Deputy Thomas questioned the driver, 22-year-old Christopher Rodriguez, and the passenger, 21-year-old Casey Ruiz. The two men are cousins.

Rodriguez told the deputy, "I drove him from 7-Eleven to here.”

According to a police report,  the deputy saw a black assault rifle, a light-green jacket and money scattered on the seat and floor of the vehicle.

Ruiz told authorities "he never touched a riffle" and he would only speak with his lawyer.

Both men were charged with armed robbery and taken to the Palm Beach County Jail.
