BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. — The driver in a deadly Christmas Day crash that killed two people on Interstate 95 now faces multiple charges including DUI vehicular homicide.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Higinio Pablo Jeronimo, 45, of West Palm Beach lost control of a 1996 Ford Explorer and overturned several times on I-95 northbound near Gateway Boulevard just before 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
All northbound lanes were closed for multiple hours.
Two of his passengers, Luis Pablo Ramos, 23, and Domingo Pablo Bautista, 23, both of West Palm Beach were pronounced dead at the scene.
Jeronimo was transported to Delray Medical Center where he remains in critical condition.
Palm Beach County Jail records show Jeronimo was charged Wednesday at 10 p.m. with DUI vehicular homicide, driving with a suspended license causing a death and DUI causing damage to property or person.
A booking photo of Jeronimo is not available yet since he is still hospitalized.
