FDLE to investigate future officer-involved shootings in Boynton Beach

Posted

The next time a Boynton Beach police officer shoots someone with a gun the Florida Department Law Enforcement of will investigate it.

In the past, the police department investigated its own officer-involved shootings.

In a statement on Facebook the police department wrote that the change is a step toward more accountability and transparency.

FDLE will also investigate the death of anyone in Boynton police custody.

The last officer-involved shooting was in 2014.

The department says no inmate has ever died in their custody.
