Anna Morsaw never thought she would be speaking at the 'Staying Alive on Florida's Roadways' event. She never thought her son, rising MMA star Jordan Parsons would be on a poster with other crash victims.

'He was 100 percent in the gym working on his MMA dream," said Morsaw.

Jordan's life was cut short in May. Police say 28-year-old Dennis Wright hit Jordan as he was crossing Federal Highway in Delray Beach. Police say Wright never stopped.

"I don't know what kind of person could do that and think it's okay," said Morsaw.

Delray Beach Police Officer Derek Chahine found Jordan lying in the roadway and comforted him until help arrived.

"It's something that's going to be imprinted in the back of my mind for the rest of my life," said Officer Chahine.

Delray Beach Detectives worked around the clock to find Wright. They say his license had been suspended six times before he hit and killed Jordan.

Morsaw and other families expressed the need for tougher penalties for habitual traffic offenders. They thanked law enforcement for keeping the roads safe.

Court records show on June 7th Wright's attorney filed a not guilty plea. Records show Wright has not bonded out of jail.
